Filling The Farmhouse

GUYS!
We have some super exciting news. And a semi-comical story to go along with it.
As most of you who know us know, we want to have more kids. We always talk about having (up to) four little ones running around, helping out with chores, and making mega-messes around the house. This is one of the reasons we are SO excited about this farmhouse and the space it has. It will be home. And it will allow our kids to be kids, to have privacy, to be able to run around giggling out back without worrying about neighbours, etc.
One thing we were worried about when we started the design was the number of bedrooms we wanted. I originally wanted five. One for each (hopeful) child, and one for us of course. As we got designing, the square footage was too much, so we bumped it down to four. Leo has his own room, and we had two other rooms to utilize as spare rooms for as long as we could! We recently downsized from four to three bedrooms upstairs so we could downsize both floors. Budget struggles are real people! Trying to stay on budget but build a dream home is very hard, and there are definitely sacrifices to make. We agreed sacrificing a bedroom was easier than sacrificing any other room, because kids will eventually move out - and we're not having overnight guests every night. Eventually those rooms will be empty unused space when we're empty nesters, and we would rather have that space in the budget utilized where people will always be - i.e.: the kitchen and living area.
Below are our current and final (eek!!) revisions of the floor plan and elevations!

Back tracking a little here to the beginning talks about having a big family. We were able to start trying to grow our family in January, and we were able to test on Saturday, February 3rd. We woke up, I took the Clear Blue test, and THE RESULTS WERE INCONCLUSIVE! How does this happen? The test is supposed to show you either a + or a -, as well as a vertical line | in the 'control window'. Our test showed a vertical line, and a vertical line in the control window. What does this mean? It is not a positive but it is definitely not a negative. Where is our horizontal line to go with the vertical one!
We only had the one test, and this was the day we were going to Horseshoe Valley to go to the Braestone community to look at siding. We were already running behind, we had to drop Leo off at my dad and Tracy's for the day, and we were tight for time because we had plans in the evening back in town. We had to go!
After we dropped off Leo, we decided we had to get gas anyways. I would look for a pregnancy test in the gas station. Of course they didn't have any. We ended up stopping at a pharmacy along the way to grab one, and then we ran into Tim Horton's to get some food and so I could use the washroom. I did the deed on the stick, stuck it back in my purse, and casually went and met Mitch in line for food. We got back in the car, waited a few minutes, and checked the stick. IT WAS POSITIVE. I bought a different kind this time, it was First Response, and it is one vertical line for negative |, and two vertical lines for positive ||. There were two VERY clear lines on this test.

Mitch and I were both so overwhelmed with happiness, we were kind of in shock that it happened that quickly for us, and we couldn't believe the dream of growing our family was coming true. We're going to have another little nugget running around, and Leo is going to be THE BEST big brother!
We spent the day running around at Braestone looking at modern farmhouses and every five minutes reminding each other that we were growing a baby. Okay that was mostly me... but seriously, how could I not? What a relief to know that we will be filling up those bedrooms in our future farmhouse with sweet tiny humans.
My pregnancy with Leo was a rough one. I was really sick, literally getting sick all day long, so here's to hoping this one isn't the same. When you're pregnant you're supposed to feel like this beautiful glowing human, and I definitely don't feel anything but green these days. We're 14 weeks along, and hopefully the hormones start to subside a little and I can get my 'feel good pregnant lady' on sooner than later.
We can't wait to share our journey with baby #2 with you guys, and we hope you love our farmhouse plans as much as we do!
